How To Clean A Glass Pipe?

Step 1: Prepare the Mixture

Fill the pipe with isopropyl alcohol. For every four inches of pipe, use about a teaspoon of salt. The salt helps dislodge particularly stuck-on gunk. If you don't have coarse salt on hand, you can still proceed without it, but the cleaning might not be as effective.

Step 2: Shake the Pipe

Plug the holes of the pipe with your fingers and give it a vigorous shake for up to 2 minutes. As an alternative, you can put the pipe into a small zip-top bag and plug the holes from the outside while shaking. This prevents any spillage.

Step 3: Pour Out the Mixture

Once you pour the salt and alcohol mixture out, check to see how much buildup has been removed. If necessary, repeat the process. You'll know the pipe is clean when there is little to no debris left behind and the alcohol runs clear. 

Step 4: Soak the Piece (if needed)

If the previous method isn't sufficient and there are still a lot of stuck-on bits inside the pipe, soak the piece. Put the pipe in a zip-top bag (such as a reusable silicone one made for pipe cleaning) and pour in isopropyl alcohol until the pipe is submerged. Let it soak for a few hours or overnight.

Step 5: Let it Dry

Once the pipe is cleaned to your satisfaction, rinse it under warm water and let it dry completely for about 1 to 2 hours before using it again.
