How to clean your grinder and get high at the same time

A good weed grinder is an essential accessory. It can save you time compared to pulling apart your herbs or cutting them up with scissors. In addition, it can provide you with a better smoking experience, as grinding makes the herb particles a consistent size which means an even burn, so you get an improved taste and a more potent joint. But over time, kief and weed particles will get stuck in the holes and other grinder parts, making them less efficient.

Your grinder can become sticky with resin and hard to turn - this is when you know it's time to properly clean your grinder.

Boiling is a popular way to clean weed grinders -- it can also get you high at the same time. This is a win-win in our books.

We'll walk you through cleaning your grinder and how to get the best results.

Can you boil your herb grinder to clean it

Can you boil your herb grinder to clean it

There are several different ways to clean a grinder.

One way is to soak the parts in isopropyl alcohol to loosen the plant debris, then wipe off the remaining material with a toothbrush.

This method has nothing wrong with it, but boiling the grinder is just as effective and provides benefits that alcohol cleaning does not.

Caution: Boiling your grinder is for metal grinders only!!

Before you try boiling the grinder in milk or water, be sure to understand that cleaning the grinder in this way can only be done with metal grinders. Plastic or painted grinders may soak toxins into the liquid when boiled. Boiling plastic or wooden grinders can ruin them.

Boil the grinder in milk

Boil the grinder in milk

As strange as it sounds, boiling a grinder in milk is a very effective cleaning method creating a cool result.

You get a clean grinder, and the byproduct is some THC-infused milk - perfect for a delightful cup of hot chocolate.

Here's how it works:

The fat in milk breaks down and absorbs the THC on the surface of the grinder. The simmering milk will loosen all the particles stuck to the grinder, making it easier to scrape out.

How to boil your grinder in milk?

First, gather everything you need:

A dirty grinder,

A Double boiler and stovetop,

A strainer,

Milk - Whole milk works best because of its higher fat content.

If you are vegan, choose your favorite type of milk (cashew, oatmeal, coconut, or almond milk), but choose the high-fat version over the low-fat version.

How to use a double boiler

A double boiler is a large pot that is partially filled with water. Inside that is a second smaller pot, and this is where you place the milk.

The water in the large pot will create steam. The heat will transfer to the milk in the smaller pot but at a slower rate than heating it directly. This prevents it from boiling, and where the sugars burn, and the milk curdles.

Now you can get started:

1. Fill the bottom of the double boiler halfway with water

2. Add the milk to the top pot so it is half full.

3. take the grinder apart. If the grinder has a keif catcher, empty it into a container to keep it safe.

4. Place the grinder in the milk.

5. Set the heat to medium-high heat.

Bring the water to a boil (the milk will begin to simmer). Reduce the heat so the water continues to steam, and the milk simmers gently. You do not want the milk to get to boiling as it will scald.

6. Heat the milk gently for about an hour.

7. Turn off the heat and let the milk cool.

8. Remove grinder parts and wash them with soap and warm water.

9. Strain THC-infused milk.

So how does boiling your grinder in milk get you high?

Having a shiny clean grinder is nice, but that's not why we're here.

So, let's answer this question. Drinking THC-infused milk won't make you super stoned since the THC levels are relatively low. A lot depends on how much kief and resin accumulate in the grinder. Adding leftover milk to your coffee or favorite drink can be a bit of a buzz.

Is it safe to boil a grinder in milk?

As we mentioned, you want to avoid trying this with a plastic or painted grinder. Toxins can seep out during boiling and contaminate the milk. No one wants to drink a large plastic drink.

You also want to ensure the outside of the grinder is clean so that you don't introduce dirt or other unsavory non-weed materials into the milk.

If you follow these precautions, the milk left over after the boiling and filtration should be safe to drink.

Can you boil a grinder with almond milk or other milk substitutes?

If you're lactose intolerant, vegan, or just don't like the taste of milk, there are various options. Almond milk can be substituted. Make sure to choose milk products high in fat (3 grams per serving) to absorb as much THC as possible. You can also use this method to make your canna almond milk.

If you prefer tea, try making cannabis-infused tea and adding a dash of ThC-infused milk for a kick.

Boil the grinder in water.

Boiling a grinder in water works slightly differently than boiling it in milk, but it's pretty simple. This cleaning method is especially suitable for plastic or spray-painted grinders that are unsuitable for boiling milk or cleaning with alcohol.

Can you boil your grinder in water and drink it?

Since THC is not soluble in water, unless you add some fat (such as coconut oil or butter), your water will most likely not be infused with marijuana. After straining, the water can be used to make some infused tea. But you must take extra cleaning steps to remove the fat in the water from the grinder.

How do I clean the grinder with boiling water?

Follow these simple steps:

1. Disassemble the grinder taking the chambers apart.

2. Gently tap all parts of the grinder to loosen and remove plant material.

3. This is optional, but if your grinder has stubborn caked-on resin material, you can place it in the freezer for an hour. Freezing forms loose clumps that are easier to remove.

4. Bring a pot of water to a boil.

5. Add the grinder and let it soak in the boiling water for 10 minutes.

6. Remove the grinder, let it cool for a few minutes, then scrub it with a clean toothbrush to remove any remaining residue.

7. Rinse the grinder thoroughly with warm water, then dry the parts on paper towels.

Here's what not to do:

Don't use a stiff brush or any type of abrasive cleaner.

Also, avoid using bleach or any cleaning products that contain chlorine.

These chemicals are harmful to your smoking experience.

Keeping the grinder clean will improve your smoking experience, and it will also reduce waste.
