Can You Buy a 510 Battery at 18?

by LOOKAH

In recent years, vaping has surged in popularity, attracting people of all ages, especially younger adults.

A 510 thread battery is a type of rechargeable battery commonly used in vaporizers and vape pens.

But one common question remains: can you buy a 510 battery at 18? If not, How old do you have to be to buy it?

This article will provide an in-depth look at age restrictions for buying 510 batteries.

Can You Buy a 510 Battery at 18?

In the United States, you generally cannot legally purchase a 510-thread battery at 18 years old.

Following Federal Tobacco Law changes in 2019, the minimum age to purchase tobacco products, including vaping devices, accessories, and cartridges, is 21 years old.

It’s important to note that the Tobacco 21 law supersedes all state and local ordinances. This means wherever you are in America, if you’re not 21, you can't purchase and use vapes legally, and most stores won’t sell you one either.

Most reputable online stores and local vape shops, dispensary require a government-issued ID to verify you are 21+ before selling vaping products. Retailers caught selling to anyone under 21 face fines and potential jail time.

510 Batteries are used for many things more than vaping so if you buy 510 batteries that are not attached to a vape cart then yes it would be legal.

If you buy online from a non-vape shop, like ebay, or go to a battery store,  you won’t be carded.

A 510 battery must be paired with a vape cartridge to assemble a complete vape pen to work. However, Vape carts are typically considered tobacco products or nicotine products.

That is to say, although the 510 battery itself can be purchased, if you have not reached the 21 legal age to purchase the vape cart, you cannot assemble the vape pen to use it.

Bottom line is just wait til you are 21. You're probably only 18 or 20 so just wait. If you're even younger stop trying to be “like the cool teenagers"
